Position Summary
Walla Walla County Fire District 5 is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters. Volunteers respond to a wide range of emergency incidents and play a vital role in protecting lives, property, and the community we proudly serve.
What We Do
Volunteer Firefighters respond to all emergency-related calls, including:
- Structure and wildland fires
- Emergency medical incidents
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Rescue operations
- And more!
District 5 operates out of four stations, allowing members to respond from the station closest to them and serve communities throughout the district.
Training & Certification Opportunities
We are committed to developing skilled and confident firefighters. Volunteers have opportunities to receive:
- Firefighter I training
- EMT certification opportunities
- Ongoing drills and hands-on scenario training
- Specialized training (wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication, rescue techniques, and more)
No prior experience is required, we provide the training and support needed to succeed.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls
- Participate in regular training and drills
- Maintain equipment and apparatus readiness
- Engage in community events and public education efforts
- Uphold department values of professionalism, teamwork, and service
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to meet physical and training requirements
- Strong commitment to teamwork and community service
