Position Summary

Walla Walla County Fire District 5 is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters. Volunteers respond to a wide range of emergency incidents and play a vital role in protecting lives, property, and the community we proudly serve.

What We Do

Volunteer Firefighters respond to all emergency-related calls, including:

  • Structure and wildland fires
  • Emergency medical incidents
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Rescue operations
  • And more!

District 5 operates out of four stations, allowing members to respond from the station closest to them and serve communities throughout the district.

Training & Certification Opportunities

We are committed to developing skilled and confident firefighters. Volunteers have opportunities to receive:

  • Firefighter I training
  • EMT certification opportunities
  • Ongoing drills and hands-on scenario training
  • Specialized training (wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication, rescue techniques, and more)

No prior experience is required,  we provide the training and support needed to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls
  • Participate in regular training and drills
  • Maintain equipment and apparatus readiness
  • Engage in community events and public education efforts
  • Uphold department values of professionalism, teamwork, and service

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to meet physical and training requirements
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and community service
